‘Inside Out 2’ Coming to Disney Plus: Here’s the Streaming Release Date
Inside Out 2, the highest-grossing animated film of all time, is finally coming to streaming. The blockbuster sequel premieres this month on Disney Plus.
From Disney and Pixar, Inside Out 2 continues the story of the groundbreaking 2015 original. The sequel returns to Riley’s mind as she enters her teenage years. The headquarters that houses her emotions undergoes a renovation of sorts as fear, envy, shame and boredom come into focus.
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust have their hands full. Not only do they have to deal with Riley’s growing anxiety, but their tight-knit team now has to figure out how to deal with these moody newcomers.
Amy Poehler returns as the voice of Joy. She is joined by Maya Hawk (who plays Anxiety), Ayo Edebiri (who plays Envy), Tony Hale (who plays Fear), Lewis Black (who plays Anger), Phyllis Smith (who plays Sadness), Liza Lapira (who plays Disgust), Paul Walter Hauser (who plays Embarrassment), and Adèle Exarchopoulos (who plays Ennui).
CNET’s Meara Isenberg reviewed Inside Out 2 when it first hit theaters, calling it a “well-deserved sequel” with “effective humor, incredible animation, and a willingness to explore a relevant new message.”
Inside Out 2’s streaming premiere comes just in time for Disney Plus’ new deal. Through September 27, new and returning customers can sign up for the streamer’s Basic plan for just $2 per month for three months — a $6 drop from the standard $8-per-month price tag. Disney Plus’ monthly rate will increase to $10 on October 17.
