Insta360 Ace Pro 2 leaks reveal 8K AI-powered action camera with better battery life
It looks like the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 could be in our hands soon as leaked photos of the product’s packaging (see below) appear, as well as an open box with the action camera in it, there are other clues.
An upcoming Ace Pro 2 would reportedly come directly after the GoPro Hero 13 Black and DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, upgrading Insta360’s 8K Ace Pro, which is just a year old. And these leaked Ace Pro 2 photos reveal more details about the potential GoPro and DJI rival.
The biggest detail revealed is that the Ace Pro 2 will be an “8K AI-Powered Action Cam.” That video resolution isn’t new – the Ace Pro can already record 8K 30fps video, a spec that’s also listed on the packaging. What is new, however, is the extra emphasis on computational intelligence this time around.
Battery life has also reportedly been revealed, with the camera’s display showing up to 3 hours of recording time. That’s said to be a serious step up from the Ace Pro’s 100 minutes of recording time, and sits somewhere between the improved performance of the Hero 13 Black (2.5 hours) and Osmo Action 5 Pro (4 hours), the current flagship action cameras.
We also see a clear design change with a prominent microphone under the camera lens. This would mean that the audio quality in the camera could be improved.

An earlier Ace Pro 2 leak showed the camera in the hand with slightly different markings, including a “dual AI chip”. These markings don’t appear in the newer photos; though it’s possible the second-gen model will still have dual AI chips. We don’t know what the purpose of that is, but with that AI-Powered tagline, it seems like a fair bet that the Ace Pro 2 will lean heavily on AI smarts.
It appears that there are now complete markings on the lens as well, indicating that this is the same f/2.6 maximum aperture Leica Super Summarit-A lens as before.
However, the same source that leaked the product packaging has shared a video on Youtube (see below) suggesting that the Ace Pro 2 will have a tighter minimum focus – a boon for vloggers – although we obviously can’t verify this. The leaker also reveals that the Ace Pro 2 will have a built-in windscreen and better low-light image quality.
Three’s company
The action camera market, once dominated by GoPro, now has two other serious players: DJI and Insta360. So the competition is fiercer than ever.
What’s even better for consumer choice is that each brand is forging its own unique path; GoPro with its interchangeable lens mods and improved 5.3K video, DJI with its industry-leading low-light performance and sturdier construction, and now Insta360 looks set to push even further on its high-resolution 8K video and AI smarts.
The Ace Pro series is also the only one of the three flagship models to feature a flip-out selfie screen, but that also means it’s the largest and heaviest of the three.
Insta360 already has a strong track record in the action camera space, with its industry-leading 360-degree camera, the X4, plus its small and versatile Go 3S. There’s no word yet on a potential release date for the Ace Pro 2, but it looks like it’ll complement Insta360’s lineup nicely and has us excited.
