There is no shortage of small digital microphones designed for Makers van Content on the Markt, and Insta360 has just entered into battle with his very first wireless microphone: The Insta360 microphone air.
The mic-air channel (or TX) is a mint size disk that can be cut to a collar, attached to a shirt with a magnetic clamp or even worn like a pendant. It comes with a windscreen to reduce unwanted outdoor noise, plus built -in noise reduction technology. It offers a battery life of 10 hours and a wireless range of 300 m.
This is what really neatly is-the mic-air supports 48 kHz/24-bit audio via a direct wireless connection with two of Insta360’s Action Cameras: the Insta360 X5 And Insta360 ACE Pro 2. A direct wireless connection between transmitter makes the need for a recipient (RX) away, and is something that DJI‘s Mic Mini can do it with DJI products.
However, if you mix brands, you will lose that direct wireless connectivity and you would need a recipient instead. As such, it is practically logical to match a brand with your promotional camera and wireless microphone, so if you are an X5 or ACE Pro 2 user, the new mic air -air is the most logical. Further mic-air-compatible models will follow soon, according to Insta360.
The mic air can also be purchased in an RX (receiver) and TX (transmitter) bundle. The RX unit can be connected to smartphones, the power guims of Insta360 and other devices, which extends the range of compatible hardware.
Already available to order
Designed to compete with the will of the DJI MIC MINI” Reed wireless micro And Boya MiniThe Insta360 MIC air is compact, lightweight (the TX transmitter is only 7.9 g) and affordable: this is now available on Amazon US And Amazon UKpriced at only $ 49.99 / £ 49.99 / AU $ 89.99 for a single TX, and $ 69.99 / £ 69.99 / AU $ 116.99 for the RX and TX bundle, and for the same price against the Insta360 -Winkel.
That is about the same as the equivalent DJI MIC MINI bundles, although interesting enough Insta360 has decided to sell a more complete package, such as two TX units, one RX and a loading greenhouse bundle -at least for now. These all-in-one packages, such as you can buy Dji’s Mic Mini, offer much more battery life thanks to the charging case, plus a second TX for double audio recording. Apparently these are two areas where Insta360 is clearly happy to admit the floor to rivals such as DJI and Reed.
Although the mic-air is a fairly simple and even obvious addition to the line-up of the Insta360 product, it is also a sign that the ambitions of the company seem to grow. Just as DJI was once mainly known for his drones, but now also action cameras, gimbals, microphones, portable stream stations, electric bicycles and apparently, A robot purification agentInsta360 gradually increases and diversifies its line-up.
It also means that Insta360 X5 (and ACE Pro 2) users who are looking for a wireless microphone to improve their audio can stay in the brand, instead of combining the 360 camera with a microphone of a rival brand, such as DJI, who feels an obvious move on the part of the Insta360. In fact, the microphone will be available with the X5 in an ultimate maker bundle, for $ 669 / £ 669 (Australia Price TB).
An assessment stitch of the mic-air is on the way to us from Insta360, so look forward to a full, in-depth assessment soon. We would like to see how things are in line with the DJI MIC MINI, which is generally considered the current market leader for ultra -compact affordable microphones.
