Instagram is introducing new ways to manage message requests in DMs
Instagram has rolled out a new feature for creators that aims to make interacting with other creators and companies easier, the platform’s chief executive recently announced via social media. Following the rollout, they can now sort and filter message requests from others in direct messages (DMs) based on account type, instead of having to scroll through each one. This development comes especially after the official confirmed that Instagram is lowering the quality of stories and reels that do not get many views, in an effort to reserve computing resources for videos that are watched by a large number of users.
Sort message requests in DMs on Instagram
In a video message posted on Instagram, platform head Adam Mosseri confirmed the rollout of the sorting and filtering features for creators. They can now sort message requests in DMs based on two categories: recent and number of followers. However, if they only want to monitor message requests received from certain types of accounts, Instagram has also introduced filtering options.
Creators can now choose to see message requests in DMs from verified accounts, companies, other creators, or subscribers. They can choose from single or multiple filter options – a move that reportedly helps reduce the feeling of overwhelm when checking out the DMs.
According to Mosseri, this feature can help creators “easily find the posts you don’t want to miss.” Instagram has also added a new one Story Answers folder, making it easier to view them by putting them all in one place, allowing quick access.
Other recent additions
Many features have been introduced to Instagram in recent months. This includes customizable profile cards, making it easier and more fun for creators to share their profiles with others. They can create a double-sided digital card on Meta’s social media platform that suits their style with multiple customizable options depending on their preference.
It also recently rolled out a song-on-profile feature that allows users to further customize their profile by allowing them to add a song that suits their current mood or personality on their profile.
