Instagram is introducing trial reels, allowing creators to experiment with content
Instagram is introducing a new feature called Trial Reels that makes it easier for creators to experiment with new content, Instagram announced Tuesday. This feature was first announced in May this year and was rolled out in the testing phase. With its arrival, the social media platform Instagram will allow creators to create test videos and show them to users who don’t follow them first for feedback, helping them gauge their interest.
Trial rolls on Instagram
In a blog afterInstagram announced that Trial Reels will help creators experiment with content outside their niche, such as a new genre, storytelling format, or topic, to see if it resonates with their audience. It will only be shown to non-followers in the feed and Reels section. Instagram will provide key performance insights such as views, likes, comments and shares from the trial roll after 24 hours, giving them the choice to share it with their followers as well, if it works well.
Creating test reels on Instagram requires creators to follow the same process, except for one extra step. Before sharing the reel, they must complete the Process switch that appears below the caption text box. After sharing the Instagram reel, it can be viewed on the profile next to drafts.
Although sample reels are not visible on creators’ profiles, their followers may still be able to see them if they are shared directly with them, such as on Instagram. They can also appear on a page showing reels with the same audio, filter, or location. The platform says it will automatically share the trial roll with followers if it is found to perform well within the first 72 hours. However, creators have control over it and can change this setting at any time.
The social media platform says trial rolls have already been rolled out and will be available globally to all eligible creators in the coming weeks. The only requirement is to have a professional account
