Instagram now offers users the ability to add up to 20 photos and videos to carousels
Instagram is rolling out a major change that could improve the sharing of multiple photos and videos on the social media platform. Users will now be able to add more content to a single carousel than the previous limit of just 10 uploads. According to the Meta-owned platform, the change will make it easier for users who want to add their “end of summer” photo dumps. It notably builds on the AI avatar creation platform called Meta AI Studio that rolled out to users in the US last month.
Instagram Updates Carousel Feature
According to a press release from Instagram, users can now add up to 20 photos or videos to a single carousel. The expansion of this feature offers convenience for users who share a lot of content by eliminating the need to split media collections into multiple posts. Carousels can be viewed by swiping right on Instagram.
Instagram’s Carousels feature was first announced in 2015, with the ability to include up to 5 images. In 2017, it was expanded to include video recording, with the cap raised to 10. In March, it was reported that the social media platform was testing the expansion of the feature by allowing a limited group of users to include up to 15 frames in a single carousel. It was expected to be expanded to more users over time.
Instagram claims the feature is rolling out starting today, but Gadgets 360 employees were unable to verify its arrival on multiple smartphones.
Other recently introduced features
Over the past few months, Instagram has been rolling out new features and improvements to existing ones in an effort to improve the experience, particularly for content creators. Last month, an update introduced multi-track support for Instagram Reels, allowing users to add up to 20 tracks to a single reel.
The introduction of Meta AI Studio also brought AI characters. As the name suggests, users can create an AI-powered character with a name, tagline, and description – information that will be used as the basis for the creation of a mini chatbot. Additionally, content creators on Instagram can also generate AI avatars of themselves that can respond to direct messages (DMs) and story reactions.
