'Insults to India': Kolkata hospital says it will not treat Bangladeshi patients
NEW DELHI: A hospital in Kolkata’s Manicktala district said it will no longer provide treatment Bangladeshi patientsciting protests over alleged atrocities against minority Hindus in Bangladesh.
An official of the JN Ray Hospital said the decision was prompted by incidents of disrespect towards the Indian flag by citizens of Bangladesh..
“We have informed that from today until indefinitely, we will not admit any Bangladeshi patient for treatment. This is mainly because of the insults they have shown towards India,” hospital official Subhranshu Bhakt told news agency PTI on Friday.
The official further appealed to others healthcare institutions in Calcutta to take similar measures to demonstrate against the reported mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh.
“Seeing the tricolor being insulted, we decided to stop treating Bengali. India has played an important role in their independence, but despite this we are witnessing anti-Indian sentiments. We hope other hospitals will support us and take similar steps,” he said. added.
