Invitations ready, stage set: preparations for Fadnavis' oath-taking ceremony are in full swing
NEW DELHI: Soon after Devendra Fadnavis was elected as the BJP’s legislative party leader, an invitation for the oath-taking ceremony was shared by the team of the incoming Maharashtra chief minister with the details.
“The swearing-in ceremony of Shri. Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis as Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra along with the Deputy Chief Minister and members of the Cabinet of the State of Maharashtra will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 5:30 PM at Azad Maidan, Fort, Mumbai.”

Fadnavis will meet the Maharshtra governor along with Mahayuti allies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar at 3 pm.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing at the Azad Maidan for the swearing-in ceremony where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event.

Besides, central ministers, governors and key central BJP office-bearers are also expected to be present.
After eleven days of deliberations and rounds of meetings, the Bharatiya Janata Party finally chose Devendra Fadnavis as its CM choice after the party’s core committee cleared his name.
Senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil proposed Fadnavis for the post, which leaders like Pankaja Munde supported.
Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the BJP will decide the new CM of the state, who will have his full support, and asserted that there were no differences among the Mahayuti partners over government formation.
The Mahayuti of BJP, Shiv Sena and the NCP won a landslide in Maharashtra, completely decimating the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
With 236 seats, the ruling coalition has retained power in the state, with a huge two-thirds majority in the 288-member assembly.
The BJP has emerged as the biggest winner in these elections, winning 132 seats on its own with a whopping strike rate of almost 90%. This is 27 seats more than five years ago.
The Shiv Sena and NCP also outperformed their rival factions in the opposition bloc. Sena with 57 seats and NCP with 41 seats have decimated the opposition, handing the Congress party its worst-ever defeat in the state.
