iOS 18 Beta: This Hidden Feature Lets You Customize Your iPhone’s Controls
Apple released the sixth public beta of iOS 18 on August 29, a few days after the tech giant announced that its iPhone launch event would take place on Monday, September 9.
The update brings many new features to developers and beta testers’ iPhones, such as the ability to lock and hide certain apps on your iPhone and more ways to lock screen And Control Center. And one feature that lets you fully customize these features is a control called Open App.

I recommend only downloading a beta on something other than your primary device. Since this isn’t the final version of iOS 18, the update may be buggy and your battery life may be short. It’s best to keep those issues on a secondary device.
Because the beta isn’t the final version of iOS 18, there may be more features landing on your iPhone when iOS 18 launches. Apple has said iOS 18 will be released to the public this fall, but no firm date has been set.
Here’s what you need to know about Open App and how to access it.
