iOS 18 is here, but it won’t run on every iPhone. Here’s what you need to know

The iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch Series 10 are coming soon, but you can already get your hands on Apple’s latest mobile software version: iOS 18.

That may be exciting for Apple fans, but does your iPhone support iOS 18? And even if it does, does it also support the new Apple Intelligence features?

With iOS 18, your iPhone gets a host of new features, including the ability to fully customize your Home screen and Control Center, lock and hide apps, access the improved Photos app, and take advantage of Apple Intelligence — Apple’s new AI system for iPhone and other devices.

Which phones support iOS 18?

For iOS 18then you’ll be happy to know that every iPhone model that currently supports iOS 17 will also support iOS 18. If you’re currently running iOS 17, you can definitely upgrade to iOS 18. Here’s the full list of iPhone models that will support iOS 18:

Does my iPhone support Apple Intelligence?

Apple IntelligenceApple’s generative AI system for your iPhone is a key aspect of iOS 18. Apple Intelligence will be released to the general public next month with iOS 18.1 in beta. It’s currently available in the iOS 18.1 developer beta.

With Apple Intelligence, you can quickly summarize text in Safari, create personalized images in Messages, and ask Siri to perform more complex tasks than ever before. But Apple Intelligence isn’t available on every iPhone.

Only a few selected iPhone models support Apple Intelligence:

Apple Intelligence is also available on iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. It only works on iPad and Mac models running M1 and later.

All iPhone 16 models feature Apple Intelligence.
