iPhone 13 best-selling smartphone worldwide in April 2022: report

Apple topped the global list of best-selling smartphones for April 2022, according to the latest report from Counterpoint Research. Apple iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 12 took the first four spots in the top 10 best-selling smartphones in April 2022. Samsung and Redmi are the only other brands that also featured in the top 10 bestsellers. The top 10 models accounted for 21 percent of the total smartphone market share.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max, currently the most expensive iPhone handset in the market, came in second with a global market share of 3.4 percent. The iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 12 captured 1.8 and 1.6 percent of the market share, respectively. The iPhone SE 2022 also made it into the top 10 list, ranking seventh with a 1.4 percent share of global smartphone sales, making it the fifth Apple handset in the top 10 list. According to the research, the iPhone SE 2022 “topped the sales chart for April, capturing 18 percent of the [Japan’s] smartphone market share. In the US, however, things are not going so well.”

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G and Samsung Galaxy A13 came in at the 5th and 6th positions respectively with 1.5 percent and 1.4 percent share of the sales. More than 50 percent of the Galaxy A13’s sales came from India and Latin America combined. The Galaxy A03 Core and the Galaxy A53 5G came in at the 8th and 9th positions with 1.4 percent and 1.3 percent each. The A03 Core was the best-selling smartphone under $100 (approximately Rs. 7,800) at wholesale price. Central America contributed almost two-thirds of the sales in April.

Redmi Note 11 LTE came in at 10th position, making it the only Chinese smartphone to feature in the top 10 with a market share of 1.3 percent. The Note 11 LTE also contributed to 11 percent of Xiaomi’s total sales. The research revealed that the brand has faced supply issues and its total sales have dropped by around 25 percent compared to April 2021.
