iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a larger camera unit than its predecessor
iPhone 16 Pro may feature a larger rear camera module compared to previous generations, according to a recent leak. Even though Apple’s next-generation smartphone isn’t launching until September, rumors have already surfaced hinting at various aspects such as design, features, color options and more. Now, a tipster claims that the phone could come with a larger camera island, hinting at new sensors to come.
Bigger cameras on iPhone 16 Pro
In an X after On May 28, the tipster known as MajinBu posted screenshots of an alleged iPhone 16 Pro case with noticeably larger camera cutouts. “In the iPhone 16 Pro case, the camera module is huge,” the tipster captioned the post. This would mean the iPhone 16 Pro will have larger camera sensors than its predecessor.
It is also being reported that Apple may increase the display sizes for its Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to get a 0.2-inch increase, from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is also said to feature a massive 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display.
Previous reports suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro could also get a larger sensor, with 5x optical zoom, just like the Pro Max model.
iPhone 16 Pro screen could be brighter
Earlier this month, it was reported that the iPhone 16 Pro would not only have a larger display, but one that’s brighter as well. In a Weibo post (translated from Chinese), tipster Instant Digital claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro would support up to 1,200 nits of typical brightness when playing SDR content. If true, that would represent a potential 20 percent increase over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 1,000 nits limit.
On the other hand, the peak brightness could be 1,600 nits while playing HDR content, suggesting there will be no upgrade over current devices.
