Few meals are just as universally satisfactory as a good Sarnie – but would you pay for £ 12 for one?
It seems that the answer is overwhelming, yes, for many British – who voted a trendy toastie seller as the independent restaurant of the year UK & Ireland at the Deliveroo Awards.
The winners of the annual awards of the food delivery platform were announced last week, based on 160,000 votes from customers and the verdict of a jury; Founder Will Shu, food critic Jimi Famurewa and Tilly Ramsay.
Taking the crown for one of the categories was Crunch – a viral foodie spot with locations in London‘S Soho and Spitalfields Market.
The Brioche Bread pop-up store is particularly popular for its £ 12 Patty Melt and promises a filling of ‘truffle livestock speeches, red leicester cheese, crispy onion marmelade and black truffle mayonnaise’.
I was cynical about my approach to the stall in Eastern, the feeling that the aim in general will end in me with eating a glorified hamburger without the soft sandwich.
Moreover, I hesitated about the structural solidity of framing your brand around crispy slices of toast, which could easily fall apart, moist.
Decisive to also taste vegetarian options for the less carnival, I have chosen to test their £ 12 Buffalo Cauliflower Sandwich, with ‘fried flowers, Ranch Coleslaw, butter-buffalo sauce and a rich Parmesan room’.

At the first bites of both, I was quickly humiliated by how incredibly well made a toastie could be – and deeply bewildered by how someone could reach such witchcraft.
It was about 15 minutes after I bought the sandwiches that I could actually sit and eat, so they were also strictly subject to ‘delivery’ – conditions – and I was blown away by the (in the absence of a better word, crispy!).
Starting with the Patty Melt – a Saucy striving that packed two juicy, well -boiled meat pites and other decorations – I was ready for the impact of moistened bread.
Instead, the perfectly buttered brioche tasted as if it were just the toaster, while he was still resilient and was not dry at all.
The individual elements themselves all sang in harmony and never felt too overwhelming. And yet everything was tasty, from the fragrant truffle to the sweet onion jam.
It was far from a rise from the hamburger, but instead felt me to do what all the hamburgers should do now, to tackle the consistent issue of moist bread in the filling.

Elmira bought two sandwiches – cost £ 12 each – while tasting the tasty supply of Crunch
I paid more than £ 15 for Overhyped, double stacked and beautifully decorated hamburgers in London; So £ 12 felt like a more than fair price for me not only the quality of the ingredients, but the craftsmanship presented.
Although the Patty Melt is really a bestseller for the brand (and the most popular dish on Deliveroo), they are also known for their creative vegetarian options.
In my cauliflower I stopped myself again for disappointment – this time not only the bread was in danger, but the frying could easily get too soft, covered with herbs, around an already soft vegetable.
But the scientifically
What is more, in contrast to being a token meatless option that is offered with many other suppliers (especially smaller, such as Crunch), it was not only one of the few offered, but was absolutely delicious in taste.
I noticed that I was torn in between going to the Patty -melt and back to the Sarnie cauliflower, both finding equally impressive.
More unbelievable for me is that the roses – they are ‘Marinated at night in the same buffalo butter and a set of herbs’ – usually part of a typical silly vegetables in themselves, were so full of taste.
I struggled to find a single error in the meal and would like to express the £ 24 again.

Elmira said that £ 12 ‘felt like a more than honest price for not only the quality of the ingredients, but the craftsmanship’
