It looks like Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 Slim worldwide
- A new Slim model is expected to join the Galaxy S25 range
- It looks like the phone will be available worldwide
- The first launch of the Galaxy S25 is expected to take place in January
In addition to the expected trio of Samsung Galaxy S25 phones, there are rumors that we’ll also be getting a new ‘Slim’ version of the phone – and a new leak suggests this new variant will be available globally.
This stems from a reporter’s discovery of a model number Erencan Yılmaz (via SamMobile): at the end of the number is a B, which is used for handsets that Samsung plans to sell in all regions in which it operates.
In other words, this won’t be a situation like we have with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which is only available in Samsung’s home country of South Korea – at least as far as direct retail is concerned.
The same model number discovery – the full code is SM-S937B/DS, by the way – indicates that the Galaxy S25 Slim will get dual SIM support, which is no surprise. You can use it to manage two songs in a row.
What we know so far
The Global version of the Galaxy S25 Slim has been revealed! The smartphone has the model number SM-S937B/DS. The “B” in the model number indicates a global version and the “DS” part confirms dual SIM support. pic.twitter.com/lwXlhIdvfWNovember 28, 2024
All indications so far point to the Galaxy S25 Slim being something along the lines of a Galaxy S25 FE (Fan Edition) – i.e. a more affordable version of the main flagships arriving sometime later in the year.
So why call it the Slim? One reason could be that we will apparently get an iPhone 17 Slim (or iPhone 17 Air) next year, with a strong emphasis on the thinness and lightness of the device.
Samsung could follow suit. We’ve also heard that the phone may come with a camera setup superior to the standard Galaxy S25, but other than that, not too many details have been leaked about what it will bring.
Perhaps our Samsung Galaxy S24 FE review will provide some clues – as this may be the phone that replaces the Slim model. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra should be released first sometime in January.
