Italian chef shares 3 ingredients you need to make easy, budget-friendly desserts

These are just two of the recipes from the new book Cook like a real Italian by Angelo Coassin (£24, Hardie Grant), which is packed with affordable dishes – and even a delicious two-ingredient pasta meal!

TikTok star Angelo Coassin – also known as Cooking with Bello – originally comes from northeastern Italy and his family has had a bakery for over 150 years.

He likes to keep things spicy in the kitchen, so the book contains lots of ‘Sexy Tips’ to spice up recipes even more.

My favorite is to use this three-ingredient lemon mousse to decorate cupcakes.

You can also make your own gelato flavor by replacing the dark chocolate in his three-ingredient gelato with some strawberry puree, pistachio cream, or lemon juice.

Three Ingredient Gelato

Servings: 6-8
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Freeze time: 2+ hours
Calories: 609
Saturated fat: 28 grams

Ingredients:
*250 g dark chocolate, finely chopped
*500 ml whipping cream, very cold from the refrigerator
*350g condensed milk

Method:
1. Place the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and melt in the microwave for three bursts of 30 seconds each, stirring each time to prevent the chocolate from burning. Set aside to cool.

2. Meanwhile, remove your whipped cream from the fridge and pour it into a mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until soft peaks form and it becomes nice and fluffy.

3. Fold the condensed milk and the cooled melted chocolate into the cream and gently mix until smooth. Place the chocolate cream in a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2 hours. Then it is ready to enjoy.

Three-ingredient lemon mousse

Servings: 4
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Calories: 453
Saturated fat: 25 grams

Ingredients:
*80g icing sugar
*Zest and juice of 2 lemons
*300 ml whipped cream, cold

Method:
1. Place the icing sugar and lemon juice in a mixing bowl and mix with a hand mixer for 1 minute. Add the whipping cream (make sure it is very cold) and beat everything together for about 90 seconds, or until you have a nice fluffy texture (be careful not to overbeat).

2. Divide the lemon mousse between four small glasses and garnish with some lemon peel.
