‘It’s illegal’: Center for Ayurveda, homeopathy ads claiming ‘miraculous’ effects | India News – Times of India
“It is illegal to advertise ASU&H drugs that claim miraculous or supernatural effects for the treatment of disease. Such advertisements can mislead and endanger public health by promoting unverified or false claims,” the ministry said.
It also advised the public to seek medical advice before using these drugs.
“The general public is advised to consume such medicines only after consultation with registered medical practitioners/physicians of the concerned Ayush schemes,” the ministry said.
“The public is also encouraged to report such objectionable advertisements, false claims, counterfeit medicines, etc. to the concerned State Licensing Authority or the Ministry of Ayush so that appropriate action can be taken,” it added.
It warned against self-diagnosis or self-medication using Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy (ASU&H) medicines.
The ministry also said the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertising) Act, 1954 strictly prohibits the advertising of drugs and magical remedies for specific diseases and conditions.
