‘I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life,’ women cry after learning how to use sanitary pads properly
WOMEN are shocked to discover they may have been using their sanitary towels incorrectly for years.
As you know, many sanitary towels are available with or without wings. These ensure that the sanitary towel is securely attached to your underwear.
However, it can be frustrating when the sticky adhesive on the back sticks together.
This can mean that it is very difficult to detach the cushion without tearing it off.
Luckily, an internet user shared a genius solution that, in retrospect, seemed very obvious.
One person uploaded a video to X showing his simple trick in practice.
Once you remove the pillow from the packaging, make sure to save the small piece of paper covering the wings so you can stick it on.
Instead of sticking the wings directly onto your underwear, you can also stick them onto the paper.
Many people went to X – before Twitter – to share their surprise about the hack.
Someone confessed: “Oh.. so I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life?? Oh.”
A second said: “Me after watching this video I’ve been doing it wrong the whole time.”
A third commented: “Wait, that’s what that paper is for? Wow.”
And someone added: “After more than 10 years of experience I know I was doing it wrong.”
And just when you thought you knew all the tricks to keeping your wardrobe fresh and clean, this trick came along.
A cleaning influencer whose TikTok account @jusivince_cleaning has over 200,000 followers and has revealed how she uses pads and perfume to achieve long-lasting results.
The bizarre yet brilliant technique involves the cleaning fan spraying a perfume of your choice onto two sanitary towels.
She then uses the sticky backs to stick them inside and around her closet, including the top and sides.
Once everything is securely fastened, you’re ready to get started and can enjoy a fresh-smelling wardrobe for weeks to come.
The cleanfluencer explained why she swears by it, saying it “smells so good,” while others said it saved her life too. money about buying scented leaves.
She explained: “Some of you are wondering if it works. The answer is yes. How long? It depends on the perfume used.
“[My one] Zwitsal fades very quickly, so I have to do this almost weekly. If I use the essential oils of laundry perfume, it smells nice for weeks.”
To shed more light on the method, @jusivince_cleaning told her followers to remember to put the pads in “gently” so they don’t mess up the inside of your closet.
She explained, “Someone said it ruined her closet, just tape it down gently. I hope it works for you too.”
When Heavy Periods Could Be Something More Sinister
WHEN it comes to menstruation, there is a definition of what is normal. But there is also a definition of what a normal period looks like for you.
For some (lucky) people these definitions overlap, for others they do not.
The NHS recognises a ‘normal period’ as losing between 30 and 60ml, or six to eight teaspoons, per month. A ‘heavy’ period is anything over 80ml.
Another, probably easier, way to find out if you have a heavy period is to count the number of pads or tampons you use.
If you find yourself changing your pad or tampon every one to two hours, or emptying your menstrual cup more often than recommended, it could be a sign that you have a heavy period.
A NHS test can also help determine whether you have heavy periods and whether it is worth seeing your doctor.
Dr. Fran Yarlett, GP and Medical Director at The factssaid: “For some people, heavy periods can be normal.
“But if your periods have changed and become heavier, this could indicate medical problems.” These could include:
- Early stage cervical cancer
- Myomas (benign growths that develop in or around the uterus)
- Perimenopause (the period when your body makes the natural transition into menopause)
- Hypothyroidism (when the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones)
- Endometriosis (tissue similar to that in the uterus growing in other places in the body)
