I’ve tried and tested the 4 new Snow Fairy shower gels from Lush and here’s what you can buy
MAYBE the smell of spicy pine, sugary pastries or spiced wine immediately brings back memories of Christmas.
For me, it’s the sticky, sugary aroma of Lush Snow Fairy, which has been a Christmas staple since I was a teenager.
One sniff and I’m back to my school days, strolling through shopping malls, hanging homemade decorations on the tree and enjoying Advent calendar chocolates.
Since its launch in 2005 Lush Snow Fairy graces our shelves every autumn before disappearing in the new year.
With its bubblegum scent and candy pink appearance, the shower gel has become one of the brand’s most iconic products – so much so that it now has more than 20 products in it the rangefrom glitter bath bombs to fairytale bars of soap.
There hasn’t been much variation on the cult shower gel since it launched, so I gasped when I read: “Lush launches four new variants of the Snow Fairy shower gel,” in an email earlier this week.
The Snow Fairy range now includes a milkshake-inspired formula and a more glittery version of the OG Snow Fairy – because it’s clearly a glittery, vibrant pinkBubble gum scented shower gel was not rather enough.
Lush Snow Fairy Two-Tone Shower Gel
Lush Snow Fairy Two-Tone Shower Gel, £9
At first I was surprised that the new Snow Fairy shower gels are not all the same price (with this one being the most expensive) but this formula feels completely different from the rest.
With its lightweight, silky texture, Lush Snow Fairy Two-Tone Shower Gel reminiscent of a cleaning oil – moisturizing, deep cleansing and soothing.
Typically Lush, it has a strong, sugary scent and a slightly shimmery appearance – definitely one to cheer you up for the big day.
How to save money on beauty purchases
IF your handbag feels tighter than ever before and you want to save money on your makeup routine, have you ever thought about trying out beauty dupes?
Lush Snow Fairy Milkshake Shower Gel
Lush Snow Fairy Milkshake Shower Gel, £8
Squeezed straight from the tube, this shower gel resembles pink acrylic paint, which initially felt both intriguing and unsettling.
Once massaged onto damp skin, however, it has a cashmere-soft texture, which gently cleanses without feeling too harsh or drying.
Although I usually avoid strongly scented body products (my eczema isn’t a fan), the oat milk base has a cooling, soothing quality—a win for dry skin.
Lush Snow Fairy Glow Fairy Shower Gel
Snow Fairy Glow Fairy Shower Gel, £8
While I always thought the OG Snow Fairy had enough glitter already, Glow Fairy goes one step further.
Infused with zinc sulfide, a brightening, light-reflecting powder, it leaves skin glowing even after you rinse and towel dry.
Texture-wise, the formula has a creamy, lotion-like appearance that feels soft and hydrating, and the skin looks like you doused yourself with highlighter.
Lush Snow Fairy Glitter Shower Gel
Lush Snow Fairy Glitter Shower Gel, £7.50
My skin can’t handle harsh or complex shower products, so I was nervous to try this, especially after discovering that it contains 13 times more glitter than the original Snow Fairy.
This shower gel is massaged directly onto the skin and has an iridescent appearance, which thankfully leaves a brightening, rather than sparkling, finish.
Pressing it into your hands, you’d never be able to tell that it contains over 10 times more glitter than the OG Snow Fairy formula – and thank goodness, honestly!
