Jamie Oliver admits he feels ‘so lonely sometimes’ in his 24-year marriage to Jools

Since tying the knot in 2000, Jamie Oliver and Juliette Norton, better known as Jools, have had five children together and even renewed their wedding vows this year.

But that doesn’t mean their relationship is as perfect as you might think.

The couple recently appeared on an episode of the podcast Newlyweds, presented by Made in Chelsea married couple Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo.

After having a long television career and even making a name for himself as The Naked Chef, it’s probably no surprise that Jamie Oliver isn’t afraid to bare it all.

During the podcast, the chef said that he is much more tangible than Jools, which made him “feel so lonely sometimes”.

This comes after host Jaime asked the couple what they believe is ‘the secret to a happy marriage’.

“There are times, like a month and a half, when you don’t like each other that much,” Jamie admitted.

Jools then stepped in to explain how she fell out with Jamie after building it up over a few months.

“Every three months you have something like that where I’m like, ‘oh, I really don’t like you,’ then I build it up to something that isn’t even necessary.

“And then [I’m] about that piece [and] we are at it again and we are all in love again,” said Jules.

While that may sound a bit intense, Jools emphasized that it’s actually essential for a healthy relationship.

“I think it’s very important that we argue in a relationship,” she added.

And while both men appeared to be more tactile, reality star Sophie and Jules had very different opinions on a comforting hug.

Even when the chef gets a hug, it isn’t as sweet and romantic as he would hope.

Even though Jamie is ‘all in’, he explained that he can feel Jools pulling away from the hug, something reality star Jamie Laing can also relate to.

Despite the tongue-in-cheek admission, after a clip from the podcast episode was shared on TikTok, people remained convinced their marriage was doomed.

One said: “Jamie Oliver looks sick of living with her, like desperately sick of living.”

A second agreed: “I don’t think I’ve ever felt like this after seventeen years.”

But others could relate to the couple’s problems, with one saying: “This is so true and no one ever admits it!

“Everyone all looks happy on social media, but I bet the majority of people are fighting in relationships you would never know, so don’t compare yours to anyone else’s.”

In June, Jamie and Jools flew to Vegas to renew their vows. During the informal ceremony, Jamie wore a suit, while Jools opted for a white summer top and jeans.

In one get it the happy couple posed on the altar of the wedding chapel with a tribute to Elvis Presley.

Sharing the photos, lover Jamie said: “Happy 24th wedding anniversary. 24 years!!!

“I love you – Las vagus baby!! big love, really nice, Jamie xxx.”

While Jools said: “Happy 24 crazy married years together. I love you so much, thank you for indulging my LOVE for Elvis.

“I know there are three people in this marriage… but you understand me like no other!

“Just wait and see what I have planned for our 25th.”

The couple – who share Poppy, 21, Daisy, 20, Petal, 14, Buddy, 12, and River, seven, also renewed their wedding vows on a beautiful beach in the Maldives.
