Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was the first Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical to be produced.

The hit series follows the biblical story of Joseph, Jacob’s favorite of his eleven sons.

Sold into slavery by his brothers out of jealousy, Joseph begins working for the Egyptian magnate Potiphar before being thrown in prison after refusing his wife’s advances.

While in captivity, the character learns to interpret dreams and his newfound abilities help him become the right-hand man of the Pharaoh.

Jason Donovan returned to the London Palladium in 2019, the scene of his triumph 28 years ago in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to symbolically pass Joseph’s baton to his newest incumbent Jac Yarrow.

In its first version, the musical was staged in a London primary school in 1968 and lasted 25 minutes. Since then, as we know, the show has expanded.

Jason rose to fame with the role of Scott Robinson in Neighbors – which was recently discontinued.
