JD Vance slams ‘disgusting’ top Democrat for ‘wishing’ his family to endure horrific ordeal

Senator JD Vance lashed out at Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear for wishing a family member to become pregnant through rape.

The Republican vice presidential candidate slammed Beshear for the “disgusting” comment he made the night after he spoke about protecting abortion rights on the first night of the Democratic National Convention.

“Let him go through this,” Beshear said Tuesday morning on MSNBC.

Vance’s campaign team is calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to immediately condemn the comments, saying the “violent rhetoric” has no place in political debate.

Vance responded to Beshear with a message on X: “What the hell is this?”

“Why would Andy Beshear wish for a member of my family to be raped?!?” he asked, adding, “What a disgusting person.”

Beshear was the keynote speaker at the first session of Congress on Monday, speaking about protecting access to abortion.

He spoke after three different stories were shared about women who had to terminate their pregnancies for different reasons.

A woman, Hadley Duvall, spoke about her pregnancy at age 12, after years of sexual abuse by her stepfather.

“Trump calls abortion bans across the country a beautiful thing. What’s so beautiful about a child having to carry her parents’ child?” Duvall said Monday onstage at the United Center.

In response to Beshear’s comments to MSNBC, William Martin, Vance’s communications director, issued a statement:

“After speaking on the main stage at the DNC last night, Harris’s deputy governor, Andy Beshear, went on national television this morning and explicitly called for the rape of a family member of Senator Vance.”

“His comments are disgusting, vile, and should not be tolerated in American politics,” he continued. “We call on Kamala Harris to immediately reject Governor Beshear’s comments and demonstrate that, regardless of partisan differences, this type of violent rhetoric has no place in our public discourse.”
