A battle of six months to give a seat of the Supreme Court of North Carolina on Wednesday when the Republican challenger, who had started an extraordinary attempt to throw away thousands of voices, admit the race.
The challenger, Judge Jefferson Griffin, said in a statement that he would not appeal a decision by a federal court that was issued on Monday that the State election council ordered the victory for the democratically established sitting, Justice Allison Riggs.
“Although I do not fully agree with the analysis of the court, I respect the company of the court – just as I have respected every judicial tribunal that this case has heard,” said Mr Griffin. “I will not appeal against the decision of the court.”
Two recalls had confirmed that Justice Riggs won the race with a margin of 734 votes from the more than 5.5 million ballot papers that were released. The results of the race are the last in the nation certified from the 2024 elections.
This is a developing story. Come back for updates.
