Jharkhand illegal mining scam: CBI conducts raids in 3 states, CM Soren's aide under scanner
NEW DELHI: NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted searches at 16 locations in three states of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar in connection with an illegal stone mining scam at Nimbu Pahad in Jharkhand, officials said on Tuesday.
Pankaj Mishra, an alleged political aide of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is also being scanned in connection with the case, the official added.
The investigating agency searched 11 locations in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district, three in Ranchi and a few locations in both Patna and Kolkata, focusing on premises of suspects and their associates.
During these searches, the investigators seized Rs 50 lakh in cash along with one kilo of gold and silver. Moreover, they discovered property documents worth several crore rupees.
The investigation began after the CBI registered this case on November 23, 2023, as per guidelines of the Jharkhand High Court.
