John Gosden and Kieran Shoemark divided after the field of Golden defeat in 2000 Guineas

John Gosden dumped Jockey Kieran Shoemark after Field of Gold’s narrow defeat in the Gineas of Saturday 2000.
The six-time champion trainer had conversations earlier this week with co-trainer son Thady and she decided to remove the oppressed driver as no1 of the stable.
There has been a lot of control on Shoemark, 29, since he replaced Frankie Dettori in Clarehaven.
De Werf has passed a disappointing season 2024, with their lowest number of winners since 2013, and a number of Shoomark’s journeys in large races were questioned.
The Gosden’s supported their husbands publicly, but he came in again for criticism when the hot favorite field of gold was only beaten half a length after he finished strongly in the Guineas during the weekend.
Gosden, who has never won the classic of the Colts, said after the race that the horse was ‘too far back’ to have the chance to catch the final ruling court of the winner.
And it proved the breaking point in the relationship between Gosden-Shamark, where the garden is now going to put the best jockey on their stable stars.
Thady Gosden told the Nick Luck Daily Podcast: “Of course, since Saturday himself and John have experienced things together and decided that the best policy is progressing for the stable to follow the best available rider strategy.
“It is still very early in the season and there is enough time to go, but we believe that this is the right decision for the stable to have the best available rider, of course the considerable number of retained riders that already exists in the garden.”
When asked if he hopes that Shoemark will still drive in front of the garden, he added: “Yes. Of course it is a best available Rider policy and we will see how that progresses as the year progresses.”
Shoemark rides today for the garden in Chester, including Queen of Thieves in the Cheshire Oaks.
But this weekend he will not ride one of the French French 2000 and 1000 Guineas chances of the stable in Longchamp in Paris this weekend.
Colin Keane will stop the leg while Christophe Soumillon will ride Nell Gwyn Stakes Winner Zanzoun in the mares race.
