Johnny Depp’s Dior ad returns after winning libel lawsuit against Amber Heard… as cologne sales soar
Dior appears to be betting big on Johnny Depp, despite the recent revelations in his high-profile defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The French fashion house appears to be broadcasting an old ad featuring the controversial 59-year-old actor TMZ.
The renewed publicity comes as Dior has continued to assist Depp throughout the trial, and sales of the cologne he advertises, Sauvage, have soared at retailers, the Wall Street Journal reported last week.

So far, Dior hasn’t said whether it’s repressing Depp’s Sauvage ads.
The Dead Man star has shot several commercials for the fashion house since becoming the Cologne brand ambassador in 2015.
Notably, the brand appears to have broken its precedent and has continued to support the actor despite allegations of physical and sexual abuse against him by Heard and reports of unprofessional conduct on set.
TMZ noted that the ad recently aired in prime time during an episode of MasterChef on Fox from 8-9pm on Wednesday nights.

Most recently, an ad ran in which Depp plays chords for Wild Thing while in a desert surrounded by wolves.
The ad was posted by the brand in September 2021, although it may have been filmed before.
Depp has also shot other ads for the fashion house, including a 2019 clip that was criticized as racist for the way Depp and Dior used Native American iconography.
In that case, Dior took note of the complaints and appeared to have removed the ad and related materials from its social media posts, according to the guard.

Strong sales: Sephora reportedly posted an Instagram ad for Sauvage as of May, and the Wall Street Journal reported that sales for that retailer and its competitor Ulta increased
More recently, Sephora has reportedly posted an Instagram ad for Sauvage starting in May of this year.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier in June that the cosmetics retailer and its competitor Ulta have both seen sales of Depp’s cologne soar, making it one of their best-selling fragrances online.
While the French luxury brand appears to be staying with Depp, there’s no indication yet that Hollywood plans to put him in major projects.
Speak with The Sunday Times last month, super producer Jerry Bruckheimer said there were no plans to bring him back to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, although Margot Robbie is still in the running for a spin-off film.
During his defamation trial, Tracey Jacobs, Depp’s former agent, testified that he used an on-set earpiece to conduct his lines, although in 2018 Vanity Fair profile, the actor claimed he played sounds and music to help him get into the right mindset for a performance.
