Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of trying to divide the nation, citing “Pahle Rashtra, Phir Caste”.
NEW DELHI: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and accused him of promoting division for political gain. “Pehle Rashtra, Phir Caste (nation first, caste second),” Chouhan said firmly, calling for unity over identity politics. ‘Rahul Gandhi, how much are you going to divide? These are divisive people, those who discriminate and divide the country for political gains,” he added, while speaking to reporters in Bhopal in response to recent discussions surrounding the caste census.
The BJP leader emphasized that India is a country of equality and unity. “We are all sons of Mother India,” he declared, underscoring the government’s commitment social justice in all sectors. “They are Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government This has ensured social justice for all sections of society, including SC, ST, OBCs and the economically weaker sections,” Chouhan said.
Chouhan’s meeting echoed the call for national solidarity, summarized in his slogan ‘Judenge toh Jeetenge’ (Together we will win). He claimed that efforts to divide the country would ultimately fail if there was collective strength and unity.
Speaking confidently about the political environment of Jharkhand, Chouhan spoke confidently about the BJP’s prospects in the state. He described a “wave of change” sweeping through Jharkhand that he said will pave the way for a BJP-led government. Chouhan accused the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress coalition of misgovernance, corruption and betraying public trust, and alleged that they had “invited infiltrators” to boost their vote bank.
He expressed optimism about a potential ‘dual engine government’ and asserted that such leadership would bring transformative development to Jharkhand.
The Union minister later addressed a rally in Budhni where he campaigned for BJP candidate Ramakant Bhargava on the last day of the bypoll campaign, reiterating his call for unity and progress under the leadership of the BJP.
