NEW DELHI: SC on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of petitions in the House indefinitely, seeking judgement of his October 17, 2023 ruling rejecting requests to legalize same-sex marriage, as one of the judges on the bench, which withdrew from the proceedings. Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who will succeed CJI DY Chandrachud On November 3 of this year, he withdrew from the case after learning that a lawyer who had represented a party in the original case was a relative. Although the review petitions were filed last year, the court had to be reconstituted because two judges have since retired.
