K Sanjay Murthy appointed as India's first IAS CAG from Konaseema
RAJAHMUNDRY: For the first time in history, a davit IAS officer came out Konaseema district in the undivided district of East Godavari has been appointed as Comptroller of the Auditor General of India. The President of India, Draupadi Murmu, had appointed K Sanjay Murthy as the CAG of India. Sanjay Murthy is an IAS officer of Himachal cadre.
He had taken charge of the Himachal Pradesh cadre and is discharging his duties as higher education secretary in the central cabinet. Sunjay Murthy will take charge as CAG on 21st of this month. The tenure of the current CAG, Girish Chandra expires on the 20th of this month. He is the son of former Amalapuram MP KSR Murthy. As far as the life of the new CAG is concerned, Sunjay Murthy was born on December 24, 1964.
He completed Mechanical Engineering and was selected under Himachal Pradesh in Civil Service. He worked at the Ministry of Forestry, Environment and IT between 2002 and 2007. He also worked for three years at the National Institute for Smart Governance. From October 2021, he will fulfill duties as secretary for higher education at the centre. The people of Amalapuram are proud that their own son has been appointed to the highest post in the country.
