Murmu was previously the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir after the formation of the new Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.In order, the Center said: “In pursuance of the power vested in it by clause (1) of Article 148 of the Constitution of India, the President has been pleased to appoint Shri K. Sanjay Murthy as Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
