Exit polling from AP reveals that 40 percent of women under 30 voted for Trump – a seven-point jump from 2020. The youngest of them, aged 18 to 24, fled Harris in greater numbers, with Trump gaining 11 points in his contest with Joe Biden.
Trump’s huge rally among young women has helped win over more voters under 30 than any Republican candidate since 2008.
Hillary Clinton had a 19-point lead by less than 30 years when she ran against Trump in 2016, Biden widened that gap to 25 points — but under Harris that margin shrank to just 6 points.

Harris has made no secret of her attempt to woo Gen Z female voters, embracing “brat summer” and appearing on Alex Cooper’s wildly popular Call Her Daddy podcast.
She galvanized support from female music icons – Charli XCX, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé all supported her during the campaign.
The vice president used terms like “weird” to describe Trump and his running mate JD Vance, embraced the nickname “Momala” and made TikTok videos for the hit “Femininomenon” by Gen Z’s favorite rising star Chappel Roan.
And while she may have won the TikTok war — racking up 448 million likes to Trump’s 102 million — she wasn’t able to translate that into votes.
Harris put abortion at the forefront of her campaign after Supreme Court justices appointed during the Trump administration overturned Roe v Wade in 2022.

She warned female voters that reproductive rights would be further endangered by a new Trump presidency.
But only 13 percent of voters under 30 said abortion was their top concern.
In stark contrast, 40 percent of that age group said the economy was their biggest concern. Another 11 percent of under-30s say immigration is their biggest problem.
Psychotherapist and author Jonathan Alpert told DailyMail.com that he was not surprised that Trump did better than expected with Gen Z women.
“There’s an assumption being made about Generation Z – many so-called political experts think that just because someone is in their teens to late 20s and is a woman, it means they would automatically vote for Harris,” he said.
“Many even told me they felt unsafe in Biden/Harris America and wanted change.”

Alpert said there were strong women’s rights advocates and feminists in this age group who still chose to vote for Trump because they considered other factors more important.
“Ultimately, Gen Z cared about a lot of things, but security and prosperity seemed to be more important than other issues that the Harris campaign gave way too much power to,” he said.
Business analyst and political commentator Nadja Atwal said young people were not “resonating” with the campaign, despite all the effort put into learning the lingo and meeting Gen Z on their favorite platforms.
“Many felt it was plain and simple that it was not recognizable,” she said.

They’ve fired off memes of bright green squares, and when the BidenHQ became the “KamalaHQ,” a smart and probably younger member of her staff added the recognizable “snot” logo to her page.
‘Although the economy looks good enough in terms of numbers, it doesn’t matter if people can’t make a living because of the high costs. Based on my findings, Gen Z felt that the Harris campaign did not adequately address this issue.”
In addition, Atwal said the pile of celebrity endorsements may have worked against Harris.
“Many young people were downright insulted by the Harris campaign’s star power,” she said. ‘It doesn’t resonate with seeing Hollywood and music stars living in huge mansions behind fences and protected by bodyguards.
‘Trump went all out for the working class… making and serving fries at McDonalds… driving the garbage truck.
‘It was seen as cool and recognizable.’
Trump also targeted Gen Z, but his methods appealed more to young men than women, with appearances on podcasts with Joe Rogan, Theo Von and the Nelk Boys.
The 78-year-old made significant progress among Gen Z men and got advice from his 18-year-old son, Barron.
Fifty-six percent of men under thirty voted for Trump over Harris, a 15-point increase from his 2020 defeat to Biden.
About 42 percent of young voters cast ballots this year, a lower turnout than the 50 percent in 2020, but roughly equal to that of the 2016 election.
