This trend is for many the finishing touch to a clean home. It involves using the side of your right hand to ‘chop off’ the middle of the pillow, creating a dent.

In a conversation with TikTok, the interior genius explains why she hates the craze for chopped cushions so much.

In a viral video, Kelly was asked why she doesn’t like the trend. Although she looked exhausted by the question alone, she showed why it’s not for her.

“That’s horrible,” she said, showing a black-and-white pillow that had been “chopped off” in the middle.

Next, Kelly smoothed out the pillow, making sure to keep it firm and upright.

“That’s perfection,” she said.

In another clip, the interior designer walked through a room, refurbishing all the freshly cut cushions to her own taste.

“This had to happen, as long as I’m in the room, there’s not a single piece of pillow in sight,” she wrote in the clip.

Turns out she’s not the only one who hates the trend, as one person commented: “Totally agree, chopped pillows look ridiculous.”

“People who break pillows have signs that say ‘live, laugh, love’ above their couch,” said a second.

“Kelly knows best,” wrote a third, “leave the cutting to the chefs in the kitchen.”

“Yes! That has always annoyed me, I have found my people,” said another.

Meanwhile, others wondered where the trend came from, with many suggesting Mrs Hinch was the culprit.

“I’ve never understood why the cushions were chopped up. Mrs Hinch was the first person I saw do it, it looks like someone has been sitting in them,” said one person.

“Everything Mrs Hinch started was so tacky,” another thought.

Of course, some people admitted that they like a minced pillow, despite what the interior designer may say.

“I’m guilty of this, I think it looks better. Sorry!!!” someone wrote.

And another agreed: “I won’t stop doing this, they look better in my opinion.”

Trends that interior designers hate

IF you want to make sure your home looks glamorous, these are the trends interior designers hate.

NO YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, yellow paint in the bedroom is absolutely a no-go.

He said, “If you want everyone to know you’re a horse girl, yellow is perfect for you.”

UNSUBSCRIBE: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest opinion about the Live, Love, Laugh signs.

The interior design professional explains: “Another complaint of mine – Live, Laugh, Love – those wooden things that are on bookshelves and floating shelves, that’s so 10, 12, 15 years ago.”

NO GREY YAY: Julie Provenzano explained that gray interiors are too common.

She stressed: “We took something good and exaggerated it to the point where it now feels copy, paste and boilerplate.”
