This comes just days after the revelation that Mark had been inebriated when he once revealed Kelly’s third pregnancy just moments after she had told him the good news during the first trimester.

Ripa opened up about the experience in her new book of personal essays, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories, as she exclusively shared an excerpt from the chapter titled, ‘It’s probably just the flu’, where she explains how her ‘drinky-drinky, happy-happy’ husband couldn’t keep quiet.

Kelly and Mark, who are parents to Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19, were not trying for baby number three when the star found herself pregnant.

At the time, Consuelos was on the other side of the globe filming a movie that required him to go off the grid for 1940s military training, when Kelly discovered she was expecting.

Ripa had been battling what she thought was a flu for a little while and when she finally relented and went to the doctor, low and behold it was actually the baby flu.

When Mark was finally able to get in touch with his wife – who, at that point, had known for weeks that she was pregnant – it was the crack of dawn.

Cat is out of the bag: This comes just days after Kelly exclusively shared an excerpt from her new book of personal essays, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories, to DailyMail.com about how Mark let slip she was pregnant

Whoops: She had been battling what she thought was a flu for a little while and when she finally relented and went to the doctor, low and behold it was actually the baby flu (Mark and Kelly seen with their children Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19)

She penned: ‘”Hello,'” I purred into the phone, trying to make the most of my predawn voice, the only time my voice sounded sexy.’

‘”BABY! BAAAAABY! I’M BACK!”‘ Mark shouted into the phone. He was obviously at a bar, and obviously drinky-drinky, happy-happy.’

Ripa hilariously recalls letting her actor husband ramble on about his production for more than a half hour while she kept the big news to herself.

‘I heard about the rations, the boot camp, the realistic-looking weapons, the tent, his tent mate James Carpinello, the drills, the SNAKES, the military raids on the faux Japanese camp. The night watch. The falling asleep. The stumbling upon an actual dairy farm, and almost being shot by a real farmer, with a real gun,’ she wrote.

'It was the moment of truth. "I'm pregnant." I could hear him doing the math in his head, which very few actors can do, in their heads or otherwise,' Kelly continued. 'I thought I had the flu, or an autoimmune condition, or mono.'

‘It was the moment of truth. “I’m pregnant.” I could hear him doing the math in his head, which very few actors can do, in their heads or otherwise,’ Kelly continued. ‘I thought I had the flu, or an autoimmune condition, or mono.’

Mark was still using the ‘mid-Atlantic circa 1940s accent’ that was required for the role during his drunken phone call.

‘I wondered if he was having a mental breakdown, and whether or not I should even tell him about the thrilling new chapter about to start in our lives,’ she mused.

‘It was the moment of truth. “I’m pregnant.” I could hear him doing the math in his head, which very few actors can do, in their heads or otherwise,’ Kelly continued.

Consuelos was overjoyed at the prospect and admitted he ‘had a feeling’. Kelly, on the other hand, absolutely did not.

‘I thought I had the flu, or an autoimmune condition, or mono,’ she wrote.

She recalled saying: 'Do me a favor, don't say anything, because I haven't told work yet, and you know how it is there, so do me— But I don't get a chance to finish the sentence because mid-Atlantic 1940s Mark was back on the line, screaming into the bar, "HEY FELLAS, MY SWEETHEART'S HAVING MY KID!"

At this point, all the key players were now aware that the baby who would become Joaquin was on the way … meaning Kelly and Mark. And, for the TV host, that was exactly how she wanted to keep it for the time being.

Too funny: The New Jersey native’s candor in the pages of Live Wire makes her debut book of essays so relatable to readers – even dear readers didn’t have a celebrity accidentally spill the beans about about their major milestones

This was actually her second pregnancy secret blown in an unexpected way. In another chapter, Kelly revisits her first time co-hosting Live! after Katie-Lee Gifford left.

She had just found out she was pregnant with Lola. She and Mark hadn’t even told their families yet and Ripa was nervous that the psychic who was to be the guest on the show would guess the truth.

Needless to say, Char Margolis, the psychic in question did actually guess that Kelly was pregnant and said so live on the air.

Ripa was flabbergast and forced to admit that, yes, she was pregnant, and no, not a soul knew aside from Mark.

The New Jersey native’s candor in the pages of Live Wire is makes her debut book of essays so relatable to readers – even if no one else has had a celebrity accidentally spill the beans about their pregnancies.

Ripa recently sat down with DailyMail.com for an exclusive interview about the book, which Kelly insists is intended to entertain, not to advise. Still, Live Wire, contains sage advice to working women and mothers woven within the laugh-out-loud anecdotes.

‘I want women to get behind each other in a way that is so natural for men,’ Kelly previously told DailyMail.com.

The diminutive host is small in stature but larger-than-life when it comes to her personality, high energy and goals. She admitted however, that getting to this stage in her life was an uphill battle.

‘It took me about 20 years to get there, where I was confident saying, ‘absolutely not. That is unacceptable,” Kelly said. ‘[Live Wire is] not a self-help book, but if you can find something in myself that helps you, the reader, then I will be happy. If it in some way improves your work life or your ability to negotiate for yourself, or your ability to just know that there is strength in voicing your opinions out loud.’

At this point, Ripa has no qualms about voicing her opinions … in her book, she proudly declares that Botox is fantastic, things with Regis were awkward, the Jersey Shore is better than the Hamptons, she wishes Cher was her mom and yes, Mark Consuelos, really is that hot. IT’S PROBABLY JUST THE FLU

The phone rang at 6:00 a.m. on July 14. I knew who it was without even looking. I reached for the cordless phone on Mark’s side of the bed, so as to not wake the kids. Usually at that hour they were already up, but a summer heatwave seemed to take the early morning rise out of them.

‘Hello,’ I purred into the phone, trying to make the most of my predawn voice, the only time my voice sounded sexy.

‘BABY! BAAAAABY! I’M BACK!’ Mark shouted into the phone. He was obviously at a bar, and obviously drinky-drinky, happy-happy.

‘I know, tell me everything,’ I whisper, in an attempt to keep those kids, who both slept in bed with me on the weekends, asleep.

Mark proceeded to tell me everything. Over the course of forty minutes, I heard about the rations, the boot camp, the realistic-looking weapons, the tent, his tent mate James Carpinello, the drills, the SNAKES, the military raids on the faux Japanese camp. The night watch. The falling asleep. The stumbling upon an actual dairy farm, and almost being shot by a real farmer, with a real gun. He chain-smoked about a pack of cigarettes while he spoke, often with a mid-Atlantic circa 1940s accent. He spoke of his fellow Joes and their dames, and war being hell. I wondered if he was having a mental breakdown, and whether or not I should even tell him about the thrilling new chapter about to start in our lives.

But then he paused and asked, ‘How are you love?’

How was I? It was the moment of truth. ‘I’m pregnant.’ I could hear him doing the math in his head, which very few actors can do, in their heads or otherwise.

‘I love you, baby,’ he said rather calmly. ‘I had a feeling, didn’tcha?’

He had a feeling? No, I had had no such feeling. I thought I had the flu, or an autoimmune condition, or mono. ‘Do me a favor, don’t say anything, because I haven’t told work yet, and you know how it is there, so do me—’
