KFC Australia has made the surprise announcement that it is organizing an exclusive High Tea event Sydney This Mother’s Day – but with a spicy twist.
In the world-first Habanero High Tea experience, traditional sandwiches with high tea fingers will be dumped for KFC classic items such as popcorn chicken, nuggets, chips and the new limited-edition habanero hot & crispy chicken without leg.
The version of the fast-food brand on a high tea of a Mother’s Day is held on Sunday 11 May 2025 in the iconic Sydney location, Watson’s Bay Hotel.
Mothers can look forward to a nice afternoon for adults, where they are treated to a tasty KFC spread and flowing drinks while a DJ runs their favorite tunes.
The inspiration for the event arose after new research by KFC Australia discovered that 59 percent of mothers agreed that enjoying a wonderful feed was their number one Mother’s Day activity.
It was also developed in response to a different statistical finding that one in five mothers organized their own Mother’s Day celebration every year.
KFC Australia Group Marketing Director Sally Spriggs said that recording a ticket for this Limited ticket event was a unique and original way to celebrate the mother in your life.

KFC’s Habanero High Tea will take place on Sunday 11 May in the Watsons Bay Hotel in Sydney, with limited tickets for sale from Tuesday 6 May at 9 am Aest.
Tickets are priced at $ 50 each (plus a booking costs) and must be purchased in pairs.

Ticket sales profits support the mental health and well -being of Aussie Youth via the KFC Youth Foundation and her charity partners: Black Dog Institute and Reachout Australia.

The improved menu item sees the classic crispy golden coated chicken served with a dash of blazing hot habanero sauce.
Habanero Hot & Crispy is available until 2 June at KFC restaurants nationwide.
It is available as a snack of three or six -part, or as part of a combination with chips and a drink. It is also included in a Habanero Hot & Crispy Bonless Variety Feast, that includes six-piece Habanero Hot & Crispy, four original tenders, six nuggets, potato and gravy, ordinary corn, large chips and a drink.
Habaneros are various chili peppers who are known as one of the hottest in the world.
It has a very high score on the Spice index, assessed between 150,000 – 300,000 Scoville Heat Units. This can be compared with standard peppers, which have 0 scoville heating units. Jalapenos, on the other hand, have 3500 to 8000 scoville heat units.
Habanero consider spicy food connoisseurs as a superior pepper thanks to the combination of spiciness and lively flavors, combining fruity and floral taste with a fiery heat.
Habanero is often included in hot sauces and salsas – with those herbs that are usually added to Mexican food.
Although he contained a strong Chile kick, Habanero Hot Sauce is not uncomfortable to consume, unlike other spicy sauces.
