Kim Alexis, 64, was an ’80s supermodel who posed in a bikini for Cosmopolitan – see her now
Kim Alexis was one of the top models of the eighties.
She has appeared on the cover of Vogue and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and has represented brands such as Gucci, Perry Ellis and Ralph Lauren.
Today, she is no longer in the spotlight, but still thriving as a mother of three in Arizona.
And she often posts health videos and photos on her Instagram, and she still looks fantastic.
The 64-year-old catwalk veteran spoke with People Health earlier this year about how she finally felt “comfortable” accepting herself for who she is after her struggles with hypothyroidism, menopause and weight gain.

That caused her to withdraw from public life.
“People want us to keep looking like we did when we were younger,” she noted. ‘We are not allowed to grow older. It’s not fair.’
These days, the star – who looks much younger than her years – is active on social media and talks about how to age gracefully. “I feel great,” she told People Health as she posed for the cover with her dog in denim.
The New York native also said during her interview that she has never had surgery or injections like Botox.
“And I never will,” she shared.
The blonde beauty added that the older she gets, the more “confidence and wisdom” she has.
Alexis also noted that she struggled with menopause.
In her 50s, she felt a hormonal imbalance, she said, after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism in the 1930s.
The hypothyroidism resulted in weight gain. “I had to learn to be tolerant of myself and learn what I could handle,” she said. “I didn’t always like it, but I adapted.”
When she was 54, one of her sons had a crisis, leaving her “bedridden.” She discovered she was having perimenopause.
But she said she was always a glass-half-full kind of person and after getting the right medication, she stopped taking it.
“I’m figuring things out with every other woman,” the cover girl shared. ‘About how to grow older gracefully, naturally and beautifully.’

She started in 1978 and the next year she was on the cover of Family Health
She also noted that she withdrew from the public eye after her third child because the world is not kind to aging models.
“People want us to keep looking like we did when we were younger,” she noted. ‘We are not allowed to grow older. It’s not fair.’
Kim also reflected on her modeling career that started in 1978.
After she signed with agent John Casablancas, he told her to lose 15 pounds, but she said it wasn’t easy because she was athletic rather than skinny.
That caused her to try to ‘starve’ herself. “It was tough,” the pin-up admitted.
However, at age 23, the money started rolling in when she signed a deal with Revlon for Ultima II. Then came the wedding and the babies, and even some hosting duties.
She posed for high fashion brands such as Christian Dior
Her contemporaries included Gia Carangi, Patti Hansen, Christie Brinkley, Kelly Emberg, Iman, Janice Dickinson and Paulina Porizkova.
In the early 1990s, Alexis hosted health shows such as Healthy Kids on Family Channel.
In the late 1990s, she hosted Daily Edition.
She also acted: in 1993 also appeared with Mike Ditka on the series finale of Cheers.
Alexis also appeared in the 1993 film Body Bags and the 1998 film Holy Man with Eddie Murphy.
In 2005, she appeared on VH1’s reality competition, But Can They Sing?
‘I’m on the cover of the winter/spring issue of People Health! In this edition, I share my personal choice to age naturally, and discuss the beauty and power of embracing our authentic selves ✨,” she wrote on Instagram.
