Kiren Rijiju: Zakir Naik spreading false propaganda on new waqf law | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: He criticized controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik for his remarks on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, Minister of Minorities Affairs Kiren Rijiju accused the wanted fugitive of distributing “false propaganda“and try to stir up common tensions.
“These anti-India characters are spewing poison by spreading false and fake propaganda and are also trying to create communal unrest in India. We must unitedly fight against such people,” Rijiju said on X on Saturday. Naik had said in a message on September 12 that “if this law is passed, thousands of mosques, madrassas and graveyards and lakhs of acres of land will be taken away from Muslims.”
Naik said, “…this anti-Muslim, anti-Islamic coalition government which is trying to usurp the property of Muslims…” He cited the case of Babri Masjid. “Just imagine if just one mosque – the Babri Mosque – was taken away a few decades ago, there was a huge outcry and there were riots. If this Bill is passed, thousands of mosques, madrassas and graveyards can be taken away from Muslims. It is your duty, it is my duty that we make sure that we object to it,” he added.
