Knox Grammar School teacher William Gulson accused of child abuse

A teacher at one of Sydney’s most exclusive private schools for boys has been charged with child abuse.

William Roberto Gulson, 27, an English and drama teacher at Knox Grammar School in Wahroonga, on the city’s North Shore, was arrested on Friday.

He was charged with luring or manipulating a child under the age of 16 into illegal sexual activity.

Gulson will spend the night in jail before appearing in Parramatta District Court on Saturday.

Police launched an investigation this month into allegations that a man manipulated a child online.

Gulson has been with Knox since 2021, where he was also a seventh grade mentor and Theatre Sports coordinator.

The 27-year-old also offered private lessons through his company Gulson Tutoring.

Parents at Knox Grammar school received a letter from principal Scott James on Friday, following Gulson’s arrest.

“When this was brought to our attention, the teacher in question was immediately removed from the school and his employment terminated,” Mr James said.

‘Police have informed us that no other individuals are at risk and that there is no evidence that this behaviour occurred outside of the online environment.

“Knox is a safe environment for children. In this situation, we immediately took precautions and worked with law enforcement.”

Gulson also attended Knox Grammar, graduating in 2014.

He subsequently studied at Macquarie University and the University of Newcastle.
