Celebrity makeup artist Etienne Ortega revealed NewBeauty that preparation was crucial for her ‘timeless’ look.

He moisturized the pop singer’s lips at Coachella using the $21 Ortega Beauty Blu Nectar Lip Oil, a product that is part of his skin care collection.

A lipstick combination from the same collection ensured that the soft brown tones of her desert-inspired makeup complemented each other beautifully.

“I then had the Ortega Beauty Soft Contour Lip Liner in Xola, spread with Liquid Icon Hyper Gloss,” Ortega told NewBeauty.

For Lana’s performance at the 2024 Met Gala, he opted for the same lip balm and the Soft Contour Lip Liner in the shade “Cinnamon Girl,” named after the singer’s song of the same name.

“I remember showing Lana one of the shades – I called it Cinnamon Girl after one of her songs, of course,” Ortega told Nylon.

“It was the first time I had the product in the actual packaging, and she started taking selfies with it because I was using it on her.

“She wanted to post it, but I was like, ‘Wait, it’s not out yet!’ Luckily for her and for us, the line is now available for everyone to try and enjoy.”

After lining her lips with Cinnamon Girl, Ortega completed her Met Gala look with the $22 Agave Glow Color Stick in the shadow of “Petals.”

The secret to her shiny, full lips, he added, lies in the power of his favorite lip balm.

Ortega explained that it is a very versatile solution that works for everyone.

“The Blue Nectar Lip Oil is amazing. It’s for lip conditioning and hydration, and I use it to prep every client,” he told NewBeauty.

“Everything in my field has a purpose.”

He explained that the blue packaging of his line is a tribute to his culture and Mexican roots.

“During product development, we discovered the benefits of blue agave, which comes from Jalisco, where I was born. It just magically fit into the brand,” he said.

Customers raved about Ortega’s Soft Contour Lip Color, with one person even calling it a “top product.”

“I think this is the best lip liner I’ve ever tried, and I have [got] “I still have some expensive ones in my drawer,” they said.

“I only use roll-up lip liners. It’s been impossible to find one that lasts, until now!” said another.

“These are the best I have found. You will not be disappointed.”

“Perfect color and consistency. The undertones of these liners are flawless,” added a third.
