Late night shooting shakes Sydney: Body found on riverbank as other man taken to hospital with gunshot wounds
A man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and a body was found in a creek after a late-night shooting.
Police were called to a house on Antwerp Street in Auburn, western Sydney, at around 10pm on Tuesday night after reports of a domestic incident.
Officers were told that a man, who knew the residents, had tried to enter, fired shots and fled before officers arrived.
No one in the house was injured.
Officers were then called to nearby Mona Street after reports were received that a 55-year-old man had been attacked by an unknown assailant.
The shooter had shot at his car, hitting him in the neck.
The man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition, while police cordoned off a second crime scene on Mona Street.
During a search of the area, a body was found in Duck Creek just after 2:15 a.m.

A firearm was also found and seized as evidence.
“While the investigation is ongoing, the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” New South Wales police said in a statement.
‘There is no ongoing risk to the population.’
The police suspect that the shooting in Antwerpsestraat and the incident in Monastraat are related and have issued a public appeal for more information.
