Latest PS5 Pro report says it’s still coming this year and yes, it will break the bank
The latest reports of a possible PS5 Pro suggest that the mid-gen refresh console is still coming out this year and yes, it will probably cost you an arm and a leg.
As reported by GameSpotThe reports come from reporter Jeff Grubb, who spoke about the PS5 Pro on a recent episode of Game Mess Mornings PodcastDuring the episode, Grubb said, “The last time I heard this, this thing [PS5 Pro] will still be released this year.”
Grubb also notes that a State of Play presentation could air soon: “What I’ve heard recently is that there will probably be a State of Play in late September, not a Showcase,” he says.
To be clear, Grubb didn’t specify whether the PS5 Pro will debut during this potential State of Play presentation. But there’s certainly a possibility if the PS5 Pro does launch in the coming months; likely during the holiday season. Finally, Grubb estimates the PS5 Pro could cost around $600, but doesn’t rule out a $700 price tag for the upgraded hardware.
If Sony were to launch a PS5 Pro this year, it would have beaten Microsoft to the punch when it came to mid-range refresh releases. Team Green has new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S hardware on the way, including an all-digital Xbox Series X, a white variant of the 1TB Xbox Series S, and a special edition Series X with 2TB of storage and a unique galaxy pattern. We even have a new Xbox console pre-order guide for those machines launching in October if you’re eager to get your hands on one of the new models.
