IRONING clothes is a task that no one looks forward to.
And now that the children are going back to school, the pile of ironing is getting bigger again.
But a seasoned laundry expert has shared some clever tricks to speed up the process, without the need for an ironing board.
Gwil Snook, laundry expert at AO.com, revealed four ways to get rid of pants, shirts and blazers in no time.
Avoid overcrowding
While shirts, pants, and other wrinkle-prone garments should be hung to prevent wrinkles, there is one mistake that defeats the point we’re all making.
The laundry expert said that if you overfill your wardrobe, your clothes will crease again, even if you have ironed them.
To prevent this, make sure there is enough space in the wardrobe after washing and drying clothes when you hang them up.
Damp cloth
Gwil told the Emphatic: “When using a tumble dryer, try adding a damp cloth during the last 10 minutes of the cycle.
“This will soften the fabric and help loosen any remaining wrinkles.
“Another trick is to throw a tennis ball in it. This will help the clothes dry faster and reduce wrinkling by getting air flowing through the dryer.”
Homemade spray
If you are in a rush to get to school in the morning and forgot to iron your uniform, this trick will save you and your sanity.
Gwil recommends making your own anti-wrinkle spray with just two ingredients you already have at home.
Mix one part water with one part fabric softener in a plant sprayer and mix.
You can then spray this on the clothes “to relax the fabric so wrinkles fall out as soon as you hang the clothes,” the laundry expert says.
