‘Leadership through integrity’: AAP Goa leader hails Kejriwal’s decision to step down – Times of India

NEW DELHI: MONKEY Goa Chief Amit Palekar on Sunday praised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to resign, calling it a strong demonstration of his commitment to transparency and honest governance.
Kejriwal on Sunday announced he would resign within two days and push for early elections in Delhi, vowing not to return as CM until the public gives him a “certificate of honesty”.
Kejriwal also said he would hold a meeting with AAP MPs to elect a new leader who would take over as chief minister.
“I will become the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Manish Sisodia only if people say we are honest,” Kejriwal said.
Reacting to this, Palekar expressed his admiration for Kejriwal’s decision on X, formerly Twitter, and said, “Hats off to Mr. @ArvindKejriwal for your decision to resign as Chief Minister. Putting your political future in the hands of the public is a powerful testament to your commitment to fair politics.”

Palekar said Kejriwal’s move shows his integrity and faith in democracy and his accountability to the people of Delhi, unlike many politicians who cling to power. He added that Kejriwal’s action puts an end to “politically motivated” attacks by the BJP and underscores his faith in the judgment of the people.
“Your stand reflects a unique form of leadership where accountability to voters takes precedence over holding office. I wish our selfish politicians in Goa could learn something from you,” he added.
