Political figures from both the left and the right have suggested that US President Joe Biden is seriously ill because of the manner in which he announced his withdrawal from the 2024 election race.
Controversial Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, 37, posted on X on Monday, ridiculously demanding “proof of life” from the 81-year-old and even giving the president a deadline.
The Republican fanatic, who has previously been embroiled in multiple conspiracy theory scandals, said: “I demand that Joe Biden provide proof by 5pm today that he is still alive.
“He needs to get on camera and discuss whether he knows he’s dropped out. Hiding is completely unacceptable.”
Biden was last seen on July 17 and is currently recovering from a mild Covid infection. On Sunday, he announced on X that he would no longer seek re-election.
There is no suggestion or known evidence that Biden has other, more serious health problems. Such an illness would pose a major national security problem and raise questions about whether he should resign as president before the November election.
Journalist Glenn Greenwald, a left-wing opponent of Biden, also posted a message on social media calling it “strange and wrong” that Biden had not made a televised announcement or appeared in person since announcing his shock decision.

Greenwald wrote: ‘I don’t endorse Biden’s conspiracies, but still: it is strange and wrong that Biden said nothing, given the historic scale of his announcement.
“It’s bizarre that a president would resign via a tweet and then disappear. If he’s good enough to decide, he’s good enough to speak.”
Along with Boebert, fellow Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also described Biden’s decision to retreat into similar conspiracy theories.
Without any evidence, Greene posted the following on X: “There is a soft civil war going on within the deep state and the elites in power.
“The Democrats, the IC and their activists in the media have been lying to us for years and saying there is nothing wrong with Biden.
“Then they stage a coup against him and demand that he withdraw from the race because they can no longer hide it.”
Greene is known for espousing several bizarre conspiracy theories, including the QAnon claim that Trump is engaged in a war against Satan-worshipping Democrats and celebrities.
It appears Biden’s health was ultimately the reason his campaign ended, after a disastrous TV debate with Donald Trump, 78, last month.
Concerns about Biden’s well-being grew on Sunday after his younger brother claimed that illness was a factor in his decision to step down.
Frank Biden told CBS: “I’m incredibly proud of my brother. Selfishly, I’m going to give him back to enjoy whatever time we have left.”

But a source close to the Biden family threw some hot water on Frank’s claims. “Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasn’t spoken to his brother in weeks,” the source said. “What he said … is completely untrue.”
A leading Parkinson’s disease specialist has visited the White House several times this year, though officials have insisted Biden is in good health.
Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race via a letter on social media on Sunday afternoon.
The president is isolating due to Covid-19 at his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where his team drafted the letter.
On Monday, his doctor sent a letter saying Biden was almost completely free of his symptoms.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor wrote in his letter that his pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remained normal.
On Saturday night, Biden called together two men who have been with him since his political inception: advisers Steve Ricchetti and Mike Donilon.
It was Ricchetti and Donilon who brought devastating new data that would push Biden to a decision.
