Leaker believes ‘there is a surprise’ with rumors new view on Nvidia’s RTX 5090 GPU – but if that is a cheaper price, there is an sting in the tail

- Nvidia can have a new twist on its RTX 5090 -graphic card
- It is said that this is a new version of the RTX 5090 D for China
- A leaker says it will pack a ‘surprise’, but the truth can be everyday
Nvidia It is said that these are a new variant planning Blackwell flagship graphic cardpotentially an RTX 5090 DD model – and it could come up with a ‘surprise’ according to a leaker.
Tom’s hardware is marked Two separate mentions of this potential GPU (add with everything to this) on X, the first of which came from Megasiziegpu, which called the RTX 5090 DD and how it will only be for China.
So the theory is that this is a follow-up to the RTX 5090 D (single D, not double D) for China, another twist on the standard Blackwell flagship ship that was produced for that country to circumvent the American export instructions.
Apart from the fact that the target posts have been moved on those limitations and now exclude the RTX 5090 D itself as too powerful (for AI use) to be sent to China. It seems that the idea is now to graphic map To make it feasible again to deliver to Asia and call it the RTX 5090 DD.
The alleged cut-down specifications were supplied by another regular on the GPU-leaking scene on X, Kopite7kimi, as you can see below.
RTX 5090 DD? PG145-SKU40GB202-240-K*-A121760FP32384-BIT GDDR7 24G 28GBPS575 Wall There is a surprise.June 18, 2025
The most important changes are a slightly lower GPU chip (GB202-240, instead of GB202-250 as shown in the original 5090 d), and the video ram has fallen to 24 GB with a narrower 384-bit memory bus.
That means a hit of 25% at the memory band width compared to the RTX 5090 D, but the core task and TDP remain the same (the latter is interesting, and I will return to why soon).
Tom’s hardware takes it as read that these two rumors are completely aligned and they are from what we can see especially brand on that Kopite7kimi has a question mark that their mail leads on X, what starts: “RTX 5090 DD?”
However, this probably refers to questioning the name, and whether this is really called the RTX 5090 DD, instead of doubting whether this is actually a new twist in a only-China graphic card. Although we should never consider anything for granted the rumor mill, and perhaps the latter could be the case.
In any case, the most intriguing bit here is the mention of Kopite7kimi of a “surprise” of Nvidia with this GPU.
Analysis: Let the gambling games start
When it comes to the name, yes, it is ‘dd’, sounds rather unbelievable, but remember – this is the company that you have the RTX 4070 Ti Super Graphic maps (and in the same way awkward attacks of unimaginativity in the past moreover).
As mentioned, the surprise we really want to know about, and Kopite7Kimi does not respond to what that could be with a vague hint, even. So we have been left to guess that score.
Tom’s hardware theoretizes that the surprise could be further cut backs for the AI forces of the graphic card supplied via the firmware, and that sounds completely possible. But just as much it sounds boringAnd the way the leaker teases that “there is a surprise” feels like it was formulated to heat a little excitement here. A small heel to AI options hardly qualifies in that respect, but what else could Nvidia have here?
For me it indicates that Nvidia is planning a movement, such as reducing the price of the RTX 5090 DD. Or maybe, the most exciting, also offering it outside of China? Yes, okay, that seems unlikely (although, as noted, with that question mark, it could be that Kopite7kimi is not entirely certain that this is the aforementioned Chinese variant). Perhaps more realistic, we can look at an honest old bump in clock speeds (hence the TDP that remains the same, whereby the spec is cut down in some important areas).
Hopefully we will find out soon enough what Nvidia is possible here, if there is something, because this can all turn out to be so much smoke from the rumor mill (or plans of team Green that never flourish).
