‘There are not many opportunities that myself and my family would remind me of leaving Australia, the place we have called at home in the last seven years.

‘Returning to Leicester is one that we are really looking forward to. I know that the club is looking for stability and I will concentrate on building an environment with a strong basis, where people can see what it means to be a tiger. ‘

Leicester won the Gallagher Premiership title in 2022, but then lost their title-winning coach Steve Borthwick to England.

Dan McKellar only lasted one season with Cheika Parachuted in last summer, but only for a short -term agreement. It has meant a significant period of revolution.

The ‘long -term’ contract of Leicester Hope Parling will put an end to that. As a player, Parling won three Premiership titles, including two with Leicester.

He will undoubtedly be a popular agreement with Tigers -fans given his earlier connection with the club. Parling appeared more than 300 senior performances in a professional career that included 15 seasons in England, Japan and Australia.

In six seasons with Tigers, he made almost a century of performances for the club and represented both England and the Lions at test level.

Before Parling came to the Wallabies, Parling was an assistant coach at the Rebels of Melbourne.

Parling immediately moved in coaching with the rebels after his retirement as a player and in 2020 the temporary Australia Chief Dave Rennie was recruited to become a member of his coaching team.

At the beginning of 2024 he left the rebels after the new Australian coach Joe Schmidt had appointed him full-time as his Wallabies coaching team.

Leicester Chief Executive Officer Andrea Pinchen said: ‘It is brilliant to announce the appointment of Geoff Parling as our new head coach of next season for a long -term agreement.

‘We, just like our supporters and everyone involved at the club, want stability in the role of head coach and have taken the time to achieve this decision to ensure that we have found the right person to offer that for the club.

‘Geoff has a great knowledge of Leicester and the demands of the Premiership and the European rugby. He has been very clear in his need to build an environment that not only sees their potential achieved, but delivers to the demands of the success of our supporters.

‘He is passionate about developing his players and coaches, clearly in the identity of his team and dedicated to bring players from the Pathway program made by Leicester Tigers.

‘We are happy that this process has been completed, resulting in a high -quality appointment of the hard work that went into it. We can now enjoy what an exciting finish becomes the term of office of Michael Cheika as head coach. ‘

Cheika’s only only season with Leicester could end with the Premiership title.

Under his leadership, the Tigers are currently second in the table and they are in a great position to close a play-off place with two rounds of the regular season to play.
