“Monogamy is not the purpose of a relationship,” Danielle told her 179,000 followers on TikTok.

“My husband and I are in a non-monogamous relationship; it has been that way for fourteen years.”

Speaking to Newsweek, Danielle revealed that it was her husband’s idea to “casually date” outside of their relationship.

“I must admit that I felt hurt when Rich [her husband] initially asked if I wanted to be in a non-monogamous relationship,” Danielle admitted.

‘I had never heard of it. But he wanted to make sure we were together for a long time because we bonded immediately.”

Danielle, who also shares her relationship on social media, added that she only had two rules for her husband, Rich, to follow.

These were that he could not visit friends of friends and that nothing would happen in the parental home.

And it seems like the unique relationship is working for both of them, as Danielle starts seeing other people too.

In a clip on TikTok, she revealed she was in Hawaii to meet a loved one for a vacation.

She shared exactly what she tells her children when she or her husband are away with other people.

The polyamorous triad now feels complete after getting married

Danielle said they just tell the kids that Mom and Dad are going away for a few nights and bring a gift from their trip.

“Traveling like this gives me energy and joy, it’s an escape,” she added.

Neither she nor Rich go into details about what they’re leaving for.

Her video has since gone viral on her TikTok account @openly committed and many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “I’m just curious to see how this will affect the children in the long run.”

Another commented, “I love hearing about different relationship dynamics, but I’m not sure why everyone is projecting their morals onto someone else’s life.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “These comments are cruel. As someone who has always dealt with monogamy well, it’s so interesting and helpful to hear other perspectives!”

“Just think WHY you don’t tell your kids you’re going with someone else… Hmm, why,” claimed a fourth.

“I tell my kids I’m traveling with a friend. I won’t give more details because they are 6 and 9 and it doesn’t feel age appropriate,” Danielle replied.

Someone else added: “Interesting.”
