The trip comes less than a week after the couple held a glittering state banquet in honor of Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s visit to Spain.

The couple were joined by library officials but were without their husbands King Carl XVI Gustaf and King Felipe VI.

Letizia and Felipe arrived at the residence of the Embassy of Spain on Tuesday as part of a two-day tour of the country.
