Lewis Hamilton was hit with a grid penalty after his incident with Max Verstappen in qualifying.
The Ferrari director was almost involved in a collision in Monaco.
Hamilton was told by his team that Verstappen was in a cooling round when he was actually on one Flying round in qualifying.
That meant that the defending world champion had to respond quickly to wave around his rival, and barely avoided a crash.
Hamilton, 40, has been struck with a grid penalty in three places that falls from the fourth to seventh.
That means that Verstappen will now start in fourth place of him.
Hamilton apologized at his rival after the race in the Paddock, even though the blunder was outside of his control.
Immediately after the incident, a furious Verstappen reacted and said, “F *** those couples, f *** lewis. Massively hinder that.”
Verstappen later accepted that Hamilton had not failed, but admitted that he thought he would still be fine.
He said, “I immediately saw the team [Ferrari] told [Lewis Hamilton] That I drove slowly, while I clearly drove quickly. So it’s not Lewis’s fault. I mean, I soon talked about it with Lewis. “
