Liverpool must STOP conceding first, NBC pundit Tim Howard emphasizes after coming from behind to beat Newcastle… while Danny Higginbotham says young stars must adapt to keep them in the title race

Former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has warned Liverpool of being behind in games after their comeback against Newcastle on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side struggled again, taking three points thanks to a winner in the 98th minute from Fabio Carvalho.

“I think about the problems they’ve had in these games, eight of the last nine games,” Howard told NBC.

Tim Howard believes Liverpool will be in trouble if they don’t stop falling behind early

Jurgen Klopp has to find a way to prevent that, because believe Liverpool, they only lost one of those games. But I’ll tell you something, it’s so hard to come back from a goal early in the game.”

Liverpool were close to failing to make the comeback after coming behind Alexander Isak’s debut goal early in the 38th minute. The $71 million attacker was disqualified for one second for offside.

Roberto Firmino equalized for the hosts before Fabio Carvalho slammed the ball in close to death to unleash wild celebrations.

Howard’s fellow NBC pundit Danny Higginbotham believes Liverpool’s young stars like Carvalho must adapt to keep Liverpool in the fight for the Premier League title.

“I think so, but it’s about these younger players adapting. And what you have is the younger players will often adapt faster with good seniors around them, and Liverpool have plenty of good seniors,” Higginbotham said when asked if Liverpool’s ceiling was still the title.

Although it is much too early to form the title picture, the win moved Liverpool to fifth in the league by eight points.

They face Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday in what is sure to be an intense affair. More importantly, seeing how some Liverpool players react to a busier environment could prove to be a great test.
