Liz Truss has withdrawn from an interview with veteran political journalist Nick Robinson, which was scheduled to air tomorrow.

The Tory leadership’s team said they “could no longer miss the time” to take part in the one-on-one interview, which was scheduled to air on BBC One at 7pm on August 30, BBC tweeted. News Monday.

“We regret that it was not possible to conduct an in-depth interview with both candidates despite reaching an agreement,” the press team said in a second tweet.

Mrs. Truss’s rival in the No. 10 race, Rishi Sunak, sat down with Robinson earlier this month.

Ms Truss had already declined to be interviewed by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil on Channel 4, while Sunak faced him.

She did face questions from an audience of GB News in Leigh, Greater Manchester, on a program an hour earlier in August, something Sunak avoided.

Ms Truss’s campaign team has been approached for comment on the withdrawal from the BBC One interview.

The candidates will once again compete in the final official hustings of the Tory leadership race on Wednesday.

Voting among Conservative Party members closes on Friday and the winner will be announced on September 5.
