Looking for a quirky glamping getaway? The TANK has been transformed into a cozy lakeside Airbnb with a double bed and kitchen
Ideal for a fuel holiday.
A former Samaritan ambulance tank has been converted into a lakeside Airbnb, ideal for those looking for a quirky glamping experience.
The special accommodation is part of the RAF Wainfleet holiday resort on the Lincolnshire coast, a few miles from Skegness, and has been a paradise for guests for many years.
At first glance, the vehicle resembles a working tank, with an army green paint job and a (non-working) cannon.
On closer inspection it turns out to be a cozy accommodation for two, decorated in military style and equipped with a number of useful modern conveniences.

The tank door houses a refrigerator and wine rack, and inside are cupboards, a double hob, kettle and toaster.
An awning at the rear creates some extra space and a folding table with four chairs makes it possible to eat outside.
When the sun shines, guests can light the barbecue.
There is no en suite bathroom but it is only a short walk to a toilet/shower block, the advert states.

Lucie, from Nottingham, said: ‘A great stay at the Tank! My five year old son and I stayed for two nights and had a great time. The setting is beautiful – take your swimming gear as there is an open water pool you can swim in right outside the accommodation. The area was nice and secluded. There is also a tap just outside – so no walking all the way to the toilet block with a big water carrier like I did.’
Holidaymaker Charlton commented: ‘Great stay, peaceful and quiet – excellent value for money.’
Other glamping options on site include a converted airplane, an army ambulance, a fire truck and a helicopter.
